Through results-driven residential work programs, mentorship, job placement, and comprehensive supportive services, Under One Roof supports non-profits that equip our most vulnerable neighbors with the tools they need to rebuild their lives.

  • No. Under One Roof is a Field of Interest Fund held by the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation and is led by a dedicated coalition of fund advisors—comprised of local business leaders, clergy, residents, and nonprofit organizers.

  • Currently, no. In the future, Under One Rood will fund a non-profit or multiple non-profits for the development and operation of 60 supportive housing units for woman and children.

  • Through the generosity of early supporters, Under One Roof has made significant strides by partnering with organizations including Saved By Grace, to secure and renovate a new permanent home, which will utilize $1,100,000 for purchase and up to $1,000,000 for renovations, and Golden Isles Veterans Village, to ensure its successful opening by January 2025, which will utilize $600,000 of the fund.

  • Golden Isles Veterans Village is submitting reimbursement requests for their capital expenditures.

    Saved by Grace will be disbursed at the property closing and for approved renovation costs.

  • Under One Roof will bring its vision to life (of building a caring community where everyone has a home and the opportunity to thrive while contributing as fully functional members) with two initial phases. The first phase will see the completion of 29 transitional homes and community center within Golden Isles Veterans Village, expand the Saved By Grace residential work program, and acquire a site and pre-development costs for a residential work program and supportive services center for women and children.

This ambitious endeavor, however, is not just about raising funds; it’s about igniting a collective determination to effect lasting change.

  • The fund must maintain a $25,000 minimum balance to remain open, but otherwise, all funds raised are expected to be utilized.

  • To bring together our community to support proven, accountability-based supportive housing solutions for three primary demographic groups: veterans, men, and women with children in Glynn County. As funding allows, the expansion of these housing solutions to serve more Glynn County residents is possible.

  • Housing insecurity affects those at risk of losing their homes due to an unexpected life change, rising housing costs, or catastrophic event, such as fire, flood, or their home becomes otherwise unsafe.

    According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as reported by the 2022 American Community Survey, nearly half of Brunswick’s households earn less than $25,000 per year, leaving many residents teetering on the brink of housing insecurity. Among this population, 27% are families, yet Brunswick currently lacks housing solutions that would keep women and children together during this time of need.

  • According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as reported by the 2022 American Community Survey, nearly half of Brunswick’s households earn less than $25,000 per year, leaving many residents teetering on the brink of housing insecurity—a condition in which a person or family is one unexpected life change or catastrophic event from losing their home. These events include fire, flood, or their home becomes otherwise unsafe for habitation.

    Those suffering with chronic homelessness is defined as a person who has been continuously homeless for over a year, or has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the previous three years. People experiencing chronic homelessness tend to also be struggling with complex health issues, disabilities, mental illness, or addiction. They typically live on the street, in a car, park, or another location not suitable for human habitation. It is difficult for individuals facing chronic homelessness to get back into housing and they can face long or repeated episodes of homelessness.

  • Supportive services are unique to the individual – building the skills they need to thrive and contribute as fully functional and accountable members of our community. Services may include, but are not limited to, career counseling and workforce training, financial education, life skills, quality-rated childcare, healthful food, transportation, and healthcare.

  • Saved By Grace is a 501c3 non-profit that has a proven record of helping those in our community who are experiencing the unique hardship of housing insecurity.

    Through their accountability-based residential work program, most participants are able to regain permanent housing within six months of joining. To date, over 100 Saved by Grace graduates have successfully completed the program.

    To become a resident of Saved by Grace, participants must pass background checks, maintain consistent employment, take part in regular supportive services and screenings, and abide by a curfew until graduating.

  • Saved by Grace is currently seeking a new, permanent building for their residential work program. With 100% private funding, they have a contract pending on a decommissioned church on HWY 303. A zoning change is required by the County Commission, which the Mainland Planning Commission already approved. Until the County Commission’s approval, their ability to continue this successful program remains in limbo.
